Welcome to my website!


I am a Professor of Economics and Finance at the Santa Maria University (USM).
I hold a Ph.D. and an M.Phil. from the University of Cambridge. I have been a visiting scholar at New York University, USA,  Calabria University, Italy, and Cal Poly at San Luis Obispo CA USA. Currently, I am teaching and researching as a visiting scholar at the University of Southern California, CA USA. 

My research focuses on developing mathematical and statistical models to address relevant problems in economics, finance, and management. I am also interested in different topics of economic policy, development studies, regulation, and competition. I have published more than 50 journals articles and policy papers, and graduated a dozen of PhD students.

My specific areas of interest include: i) Finance and Quantitative Finance, ii) Data Science and Time Series Analysis, iii) Industrial Organization and Game Theory,
v) Dynamic Optimization and Operation Research, v) Resources, Environmental Economics and Circular Economy, vi) Macroeconomic dynamic and productivity analysis.

Parallel to my academic activities, I have worked for several years as a Principal Economist in consultancy works at SCL-Econometrics. During that time I have developed more than 150 studies in the fields of applied economics, finance, public policy, antitrust, and regulation, for national and international companies, and several public institutions in different countries. In most of these studies, I have worked as Project Director, frequently leading multidisciplinary teams. I have also been an expert witness in economics, finance, antitrust, and regulatory issues, and I have presented reports to various courts.

Currently, I am an Expert Commissioner in Economic Regulation at the Ministry of Education in Chile. Here is my CV and Bio.
